# Activate Your Workbench Account

{% hint style="info" %}
**You must install an authenticator application such as Duo Mobile or Google Authenticator on your smartphone or other portable device with a built-in camera, or log in via SSO.** Expel requires non-SSO users to set up their Workbench account with multi-factor authentication (MFA) and to use it every time they log in.
{% endhint %}

Expel Workbench lets you see everything Expel is doing for you. It enables you to connect your technologies, manage various Expel-related settings, view your incidents and alerts, and toggle functionality like auto remediations. Here's how to get your account set up:

### Non-SSO Users <a href="#h_01j9xwekr8arj7edng6240yrgn" id="h_01j9xwekr8arj7edng6240yrgn"></a>

1. Check your inbox for a "Welcome to Expel" email.
   * This email includes a link to activate your Expel Workbench account.
   * If you haven’t received the email (or can't find it), [reach out to support](/support/how-to-reach-us.md) we can resend it.
2. Select **Set Up My Account** and follow the instructions to configure your password and set up MFA with an authenticator app of your choice. You will have the option to scan a QR code or enter a secret key to add the account to the authenticator app.<br>

   <div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/Oqx0hfbMUhFzdec0JAUD" alt="Step 2: Enable multi-factor authentication prompt in Workbench instructs you to install an MFA app and use it to scan the presented barcode. Optionally you may enter a code generated by your app." width="335"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
3. You can now log in to Workbench using your email address (the one that received the Welcome email), the password you just created, and your authenticator app.

{% hint style="success" icon="bookmark" %}
Bookmark <https://workbench.expel.io/auth/login> for quick access to the login page.
{% endhint %}

### SSO Users <a href="#h_01j9xwefwyk6yqwnw37zq1ssqw" id="h_01j9xwefwyk6yqwnw37zq1ssqw"></a>

Look for the Workbench app in your organization's SSO platform and use it to log in. If you do not see it, contact the appropriate support person at your organization to get it added.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.expel.io/workbench-setup/get-started/activate-your-workbench-account.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
